Tonight, is the first round of the NFL Draft.
Barring a trade, the Minnesota Vikings have the No. 12 selection in the draft.
One of those worked out well. The other, well, not so much.
The one that worked out well was Chuck Foreman, a running back from Miami in 1973.
He’s a member of the team’s Ring of Honor and still holds six club records:
Most total touchdowns, season: 22
Most receiving touchdowns by a running back, season: 9 (tied with Bill Brown)
Most consecutive seasons with at least 1 receiving and 1 rushing touchdown: 6 (tied with Ted Brown)
Playoff rushes, career: 229
Playoff rushing yards, career: 860
Playoff rushing touchdowns, career: 7
In seven seasons with the Vikings, he played in three Super Bowls, ran for 52 TDs and caught 23 touchdown passes.
The other No. 12 pick?
Christian Ponder, a quarterback from Florida State in 2012.
With Adrian Peterson at running back, Ponder the Vikings had a 14-21-1 record with Ponder as the starting QB. He threw for 6,658 yards, 38 touchdowns and 36 interceptions.
The Vikings have drafted six eventual Hall of Famers in the first round: Carl Eller, Alan Page, Chris Doleman, Randall McDaniel, Ron Yary and Randy Moss.
