Austin edged Windom Area 2-1 in a nonconference girls hockey game Saturday at Windom Arena.
After a scoreless first period, AJ Barrera got the Packers on the board at 9:08 of the second period. Sarah Wangen gave Austin a 2-0 lead at 1:10 of the third period.
Ellyson Bang scored the Eagles’ lone goal at 4:23 of the third with Presley Docktor credited with an assist.
The Packers outshot Windom Area 8-0 in the first period, but the Eagles closed the margin to 29-27 by the end of the game.
Kaylie Baerg made 27 saves for Windom Area and Kyia Radford-Garcia 26 for Austin.
The Packers are 2-0, while the Eagles slip to 0-3.
Windom Area travels to Waseca for a Big South Conference game Tuesday.
