Windom swept a home-and-home Big South Conference Small School Division baseball series from Jackson County Central as the Eagles defeated the Huskies 11-0 in five innings Friday at Island Park in Windom after a 13-3 win in six innings at Wacker Field in Jackson Thursday.
The Huskies had only two baserunners in Friday’s game. Trey Rossow reached via an error in the first inning and Brenan Runge walked in the second.
Cameron Scholten started and took the pitching loss for JCC.
Jackson County Central had a 2-0 lead after the first inning of Thursday’s game as Scholten had an RBI groundout and Rossow delivered an RBI single.
The Eagles scored three in the second to take the lead and later added four in the top of the fourth for a 7-2 advantage. The Huskies scored one in their half of the fourth before Windom plated two in the fifth and four in the sixth.
Logan Butzon had two hits including a triple for Jackson County Central. Rossow had one hit and walked twice and Scholten had one hit.
Butzon was the starting pitcher and went five-plus innings. Noah Thompson recorded the final three outs, all on strikeouts.
The Huskies are 8-7 overall and finish their conference schedule with a 7-5 record. Windom is 8-3 and 6-2.
JCC’s scheduled game vs. Martin County West Monday was canceled as the Mavericks needed to reschedule a conference game.
The Huskies are scheduled to play twice at the end of the week, playing at Lake Crystal Wellcome Memorial Thursday and hosting Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda Friday.
