JCC cross country teams open in Fairmont
The Jackson County Central cross country teams opened their season Friday at the Fairmont Earlybird Invitational. The meet was held on the grounds of Fairmont High School and was a 4000-meter event rather than the usual 4000 meters.
JCC’s girls were fifth among 12 teams with 138 points. St. Peter was first with 61 points followed by Waterville-Elysian-Morristown/Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton (83), Mountain Lake Area/Comfrey (85) and Tri-City United (90).
Cora Pauling led the Huskies as she placed 12th out of 72 runners with a time of 18:26.3. Class AA second-ranked Macy Hanson of Fairmont was the individual winner in 15:13.7.
JCC’s boys did not have a complete team. St. Peter won the team title with 40 points.
Isaac Rodriguez led the Huskies’ three finishers as he placed 26th of 66 runners in 16:54.0. St. Peter’s Alexander Bur was the winner in 13:11.2.
Jackson County Central will compete in a meet in Marshall on Monday.
