In the first of two games against state-ranked teams from other classes to close out its regular-season schedule, the Class 2A ninth-ranked Jackson County Central softball team was a 12-1 winner in five innings overt Class 1A No. 10 Wabasso on Thursday.
It’s the eighth straight win for JCC, which has scored in double figures in the last seven games.
The Huskies scored in each of their four at bats, scoring one run in the first inning, two in the second, seven in the third and two in the fourth. The Rabbits scored their run in the fourth inning.
Brielle Tufvesson had two hits for JCC, both doubles. Lauren Johnson and Cora Pauling also had two hits apiece.
Mady Wachal was the winning pitcher as she allowed one hit and striking out 12.
Jackson County Central will host Class 3A No. 3 New Ulm in the Big South Conference championship game at 3 p.m. Saturday.
The Huskies then open the Section 3AA tournament on Tuesday.
JCC was seeded first in the South Sub-Section, will get a bye into the double-elimination portion of the tournament and will host two games on the first day of the tournament.
Fourth-seeded Windom will play fifth-seeded Minneota/Canby at 4 p.m., with the Huskies meeting the winner in a game scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
