BROOKLYN CENTER - Kari Matejka of Martin County West is one of 36 students from around the state who have been named a winner of the ExCEL Award by the Minnesota State High School League.
The ExCEL Award – Excellence in Community, Education and Leadership – is a recognition program designed for high school juniors who are active in school activities, leaders in their schools, and who demonstrate a strong commitment to community service.
Recipients are selected by an independent panel of judges from schools throughout Minnesota.
Two other students from Valley Conference are on the list, Zachary Groh, Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton; and Irie Hansen, St. Clair.
Also, two Big South Conference students are on the list, Jenaro Delgado, Jr., Waseca; and Fabian Gerstbauer, St. Peter.
