Jackson County Central finished third in the boys team standings and fourth in the girls at the Fairmont Early Bird Invitational cross country meet Friday.
Mountain Lake Area/Comfrey won the boys team title with 48 points, with the host Cardinals second with 68 and the Huskies third with 72.
Evan Paplow led JCC by placing third in the field of 66 runners with a 4000-meter time of 13:45.7. Alexander Burr of St. Peter was the individual titlist with a 13:33.4 clocking.
St. Peter was the girls team winner with 39 points, followed by MLAC (58), Fairmont (64) and Jackson County Central (92).
The Huskies put two runners in the top three, with Elese Paplow second (17:37.6) and Cora Pauling third (17:47.7). Fairmont’s Macy Hanson, rated eighth in the state in the Class 2A individual ratings, was the winner Friday with a time of 16:31.9.
Jackson County Central will compete in the Paul Metcalf Invitational in Mountain Lake next Friday.
