The first of three rounds in the Tomahawk Valley Conference golf tournament was played on Monday. The boys played at Fox Lake Golf Club in Sherburn and the girls played at Oakview Golf Course in Freeborn.
In the boys event, Sleepy Eye United is low with 322, with Truman/Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Martin Luther second at 337. Martin County West is eighth with 383.
Owen Strei of New Ulm Cathedral was low individual with a 73, MCW’s Knox Larson is one of three golfers tied for fifth with an 80.
For the girls, SEU leads with 400, with Springfield next at 462. Martin County West is fifth with 515.
There was a tie for low individual honors between SEU’s Sam Price and Springfield’s Mauri Winkelman with 92. Brenna Heifner led the Mavericks with a 118.
The second round is May 5 at Sleepy Eye Golf Club, with the final round May 12 at Madelia Golf Course.
Both Martin County West teams have a dual vs. Truman/Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Martin Luther Tuesday at Rose Lake Golf Course in Fairmont.
