Jackson Post 130 opened play in the Sub-Sub-state B American Legion baseball tournament Thursday with a 10-4 win over Springfield Post 257 at Riverside Park in Springfield.
Second-seeded Jackson advances to play top-seeded Sleepy Eye at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Sleepy Eye Post 7 defeated Wabasso Post 263 14-1 in the other first-round game.
Four players were on base three times for Jackson.
Cam Scholten had two doubles and was hit by a pitch, while Ben Spaeth had two hits including a triple and walked once.
Gabe Wolff and Bryson Powers each had two hits and walked once.
Also recording hits for Post 130 were Brett Rossow, Brennan Runge, Trey Rossow and Gage Johnson.
Brett Rossow went five innings to record the pitching win. He allowed four runs on five hits, walked four and struck out two. Logan Butzon went the final two innings, not allowing a run on one hit, no walks and striking out four.
