Carsen Musser was named the First Star as he was in goal for the Madison Capitols in a 4-1 United States Hockey League win over the Des Moines Buccaneers Saturday night at Bob Suter Capitol Ice Arena in Middleton, Wis.
Musser made 12 saves in the first period and 11 in both the second and third frames. He also recorded his first assist of the season in the third period.
The win moved Musser’s record to 15-9-2-2 for the season. He’s won five straight starts and has a save percentage of .937 (164 saves on 175 shots) in that stretch.
For the season Musser has played 1,691 minutes. He’s second in the USHL in save percentage (.908) and third in goals against average (2.66).
The Capitols are in fifth place in the USHL’s Eastern Conference with a 26-20-4-2 record for 58 points. They’re six points behind the fourth-place Muskegon Lumberjacks.
Madison is at the Dubuque Fighting Saints Friday and hosts the U.S. National Team Development Program Saturday. Musser spent the last two seasons with the NTDP.
