Fairmont High School graduate Tyler Tennyson, a senior with the Buena Vista University baseball team, was a first-team selection on the all-American Rivers Conference team.
Tennyson had a strong season on the pitcher's mound and at the plate for the Beavers.
He had an 8-2 pitching record in 11 starts that included wins over top-ranked Washington University as well as No. 14 Coe College in the ARC Tournament.
During conference play, the righthander finished fifth among all pitchers with a 2.21 earned-run average and was third in innings pitched with 53.
He finished the regular season by throwing 15 straight scoreless innings and allowed just five total runs over his last three conference starts. League opponents hit just .222 off of him as he struck out 39 batters and walked only nine. He threw five complete-games, including back-to-back shutouts against Central and Nebraska Wesleyan where he combined to strike out 12 and walk only two.
Tennyson was also a threat with the bat as he hit .325 during conference play with 11 doubles, two home runs and 22 RBI.
He began conference play with an eight-game hitting streak and finished up by hitting safely in six straight. He turned in a season-high four hits against Simpson to start the year and later had a pair of hits and four RBI against Luther.
Buena Vista was 15-17 during conference play before going 2-2 in the conference tournament and was one win away from moving into the championship game.
