School record tied
After a pitchout got away early in the fourth quarter, JCC was facing a third-and-20 situation from its own four-yard line Friday at Blue Earth.
No problem.
Junior quarterback Evan Bartholomaus, playing his first game in a Huskies uniform after moving into the district from Red Rock Central, pitched the ball again, this time into the end zone to running back Tate Phillips, and the sophomore ran near the Bucs’ sideline for a 96-yard touchdown run.
That ties the school record for longest run from scrimmage in JCC history, equaling the 96 yards that Gabe Wolff went vs. Redwood Valley in a Saturday afternoon homecoming game in 2022.

Phillips has scored a TD in every game for the Huskies this season, scoring from 11 yards out vs. Lake Crystal Wellcome Memorial and 44 yards vs. Worthington.
Tough start
The schedule maker didn’t exactly do Blue Earth Area a favor to start the year.
The Buccaneers are 0-3, with each of those losses coming to a team that is 3-0, Pipestone, Triton and Jackson County Central.
Next for BEA is a matchup with a team that has faced the same situation when it plays at Maple River.
The Eagles are also 0-3 with each loss coming to a 3-0 team (two are common opponents), Triton, Redwood Valley and Pipestone.
Jumping jacks
JCC’s high-scoring offense has made for some work for the Huskies’ cheerleaders this season, who after each Huskies’ score do the corresponding number of jumping jacks.
They started the season with what now seems like a meager 156 in the 44-0 win at LCWM.
That was followed by 318 in the 62-7 victory over Worthington and 332 in the 63-0 win over BEA.
