Jackson County Central’s outstanding season came to an end Thursday with a 3-1 loss to Randolph in the third-place game of the state Class 2A softball tournament at Caswell Park in North Mankato.
The Huskies, who played in the state tournament for the fifth time in school history and the first time since 2005, finished the season with a 23-6 record.
Randolph (25-2) scored two runs in the second inning and one in the fourth for a 3-0 lead.
JCC scored its run in the seventh inning on a sacrifice fly by Kinley VanDeVere that scored Lauren Johnson, who had reached on an error.
Hadley Wachal pitched the first 1.2 innings, allowing two runs on one hit, walked two, hit two and striking out three. Kelcie Sillman went the final 4.1 innings, giving up one run on one hit, walking three and striking out six.
Carter Raymond, a University of Minnesota commit, was the winning pitcher for the Rockets as she gave up seven hits, walked one and struck out nine.
Seven players had one hit apiece for the Huskies.
