Three wrestlers from Jackson County Central competed for the Minnesota Storm at the Freestyle National Duals in Tulsa.
Caleb Vancura, who recently graduated from JCC and will wrestle at Augsburg University, wrestled for the Minnesota Blue team that won its pool and placed seventh overall.
In pool matches, Minnesota Blue had a bye and then won three straight, beating North Carolina 64-5, Missouri 47-21 and Idaho 45-20.
That put the team in the Gold/Silver Bracket, where it went 1-3. They started with three losses, falling to Ohio Scarlet 38-29, Oklahoma Blue 45-23 and Wisconsin before beating Idaho for the second time, 37-33.
Vancura, wrestling at 285 pounds, had a 5-1 record with three of those wins coming by technical fall.
Nolan Ambrose wrestled at 138 and Logan Butzon at 160 for the Minnesota Red squad that went 0-2 in its pool before winning the Purple Bracket.
In pool matches, Minnesota Red lost to Iowa 56-10, had a bye and then lost to Kansas Blue 33-32.
In the Purple Bracket, the team went 3-0, beating Washington 39-30, Kentucky 55-16 and North Dakota Blue 38-30.
Ambrose, who will be a senior at JCC; and Butzon, who is a recent graduate, both went 2-1 with each win coming by technical fall.
Butzon will wrestle at Augustana University and Ambrose has committed to attend Augustana and wrestle for the Vikings.
In the Greco National Duals held earlier, Ambrose went 6-0 and was named to the all-tournament team, Vancura was 7-1 and Butzon 3-1.
