Pipestone will be the opponent for both the Jackson County Central boys and girls basketball teams Friday. The boys game is in Jackson while the girls teams will play in Pipestone.
Boys
The boys game is an important one in seeding for the Section 3AA South Sub-Section tournament in March.
The Huskies and Arrows are both 8-3 overall on the season. Redwood Valley is 10-3.
Friday’s game will be only the second of the season matching two of those three teams. JCC defeated Redwood 60-59 on Jan. 5 in Redwood Falls. Those teams play again Feb. 13 in Jackson.
Pipestone hosts Redwood Valley this Saturday and the Cardinals entertain the Arrows on Feb. 2. Jackson County Central is scheduled to go to Pipestone on Feb. 16.
JCC enters Friday’s game having won three straight and six of seven. The Huskies’ most recent game was an 80-69 win at Luverne on Tuesday.
Four players scored in double figures that night for JCC with Roman Voss scoring 26 points, Weston Rowe 17, Ben Gallagher 14 and Grant Freking 10.
Rowe grabbed nine rebounds, Voss eight and Gallagher six. Gallagher dished out six assists and Voss five.
It’s Huskies Fighting Cancer Night with a potato bar fund-raiser starting at 5:30 p.m. Proceeds from that remain in the area to assist Jackson County residents fighting cancer.
Coach Alex Hein will be honoring another JCC alumni for his impact on and off the court, there’s a milestone watch for a current Husky and JCC’s seventh- and eighth-grade boys basketball teams will be playing at halftime.
