Every day is a good day to be a Husky. Friday was one of the better ones in a while.
The Jackson County Central wrestling team won the Big South Conference title for the second straight year and the third time in the conference’s nine-year history with a 44-10 win over St. Peter in the main gym at JCC High School.
JCC’s boys basketball team went on the road and won 61-59 at Marshall. The Tigers had defeated the Huskies 45 straight times dating back to just after the turn of the century (January of 2000).
And while Jackson County Central’s girls basketball team wasn’t able to come away with a win, it played traditional power Marshall tough in a 77-67 loss in the first varsity basketball game in the auxiliary gym’s 19-year history.
Look for more on those events in newsletters this weekend.
There’s one JCC event on Saturday’s schedule as the girls basketball team will make the three-plus hour trip to Caledonia.
