Lakefield won the opening game of its best-of-three amateur baseball playoff series vs. Ruthton Wednesday at Stan King Field as the Frogs were 5-1 winners over the Royals.
Levi Lindley pitched three innings for Lakefield, Keegan Klontz two and Dalton Henning went the final four innings.
Mason Pohlman each had two hits and walked once for the Frogs. Lindley and Bryce Christopher also had two hits apiece. Nolan Luhmann and Trevon Bargfrede each had one hit.
Game Two is at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Ruthton.
If Game Three is necessary, it would be played at 2 p.m. Sunday in Lakefield.
