For the first time since the 2015 season, the Minnesota Vikings will host the Seattle Seahawks Sunday at U.S. Bank Stadium.
Seattle's last game in Minnesota was on Jan. 10, 2016, an NFC Wild Card Game at TCF Bank Stadium.
That was the third-coldest game in NFL history. Game time temperature was minus-6 degrees. The Seahawks won 10-9.
The teams have played in Seattle each of the last three seasons, with the Seahawks winning each game.
Kickoff is at 3:25 p.m. Fox will televise the game with Kevin Kugler on play-by-play, Mark Sanchez as analyst and Laura Okmin on the sideline.
Carroll coached with Vikings
Seattle coach Pete Carroll was defensive back coach with the Vikings from 1985-89.
Carroll was hired in Minnesota by legendary head coach Bud Grant.
"He's an extraordinary, extraordinary person," Carroll said. "We only coached together one year, but he stayed as a consultant, so he was always around coming and going. He let me kind of follow him around and hang out with him. We had a ton of times where we just sat around and talked about all kinds of stuff, and I just found him to be an extraordinary person with incredible insight and understanding of people, and sports, and the world, and everything. I dug a lot into the things that had happened in his years past, and the teams and the players that had been there, and people in the organization who had dealt with him over the years. So it was a rich time to understand one of the really iconic people in our game and really in the country I think."
First Seahawks coach
The first head coach of the Seattle Seahawks was Jack Patera, who was hired away from the Vikings after being an assistant coach under Grant in Minnesota from 1969-1975.
He was fired after an 0-2 start in 1982. His record with the Seahawks was 39-59, a .372 percentage.
Benchwarmer Bob
Another Vikings connection on that first Seattle team was Bob Lurtsema, who was better known in Minnesota for his TV commercials than what he did on the field.
Even when he was with Seattle, he remained a staple on TV back in Minnesota.

Notable
Wide receiver K.J. Osborn recorded his first career touchdown, from 64 yards vs. Arizona. Osborn's TD is the seventh-longest first career touchdown in team history.
The Vikings are the only team in the NFL with three players with at least 10 receptions, 130 receiving and one touchdown in the first two weeks of the season, Osborn, Adam Thielen, and Justin Jefferson.
After back-to-back double-digit tackle games (15 vs. Cincinnati and 11 vs. Arizona) linebacker Eric Kendricks ranks second in the NFL in tackles with 26. Seattle linebacker Bobby Wagner leads with 33.
Defensive end Danielle Hunter had three sacks vs. Arizona, the first time he's done that since Dec. 8, 2019 vs. Detroit. He has 58.8 career sacks, which is 11th in team history. Hunter, who missed all of 2020 with an injury, is second in the NFL with 4.0, trailing only Arizona's Chandler Jones (5.0).
Kicker Greg Joseph's two field goals of 50-plus yards against the Cardinals are tied for second most in a game in Vikings history.
The first Vikings game at the Metrodome was a preseason game vs. Seattle on Aug. 21, 1982. Minnesota won 7-3. The Vikings' TD came on an 11-yard pass from Tommy Kramer to Joe Senser.
