Windom and Jackson are headed to Game Three in the Region 13C amateur baseball third place series after the Pirates defeated the Bulls 6-3 Saturday at Lincoln Field at the Windom Recreation Area.
The deciding game will be played at 1 p.m. Sunday at Wacker Field in Jackson. The winner advances to the state Class C tournament in Belle Plaine, Jordan and Green Isle.
Jackson broke out on top Saturday in the top of the first when Easton Bahr singled, stole second and scored on Andy Wolf’s single. Windom tied it in the bottom of the inning as Alex Fink’s groundout scored Connor Redman.
The Pirates went up 3-1 by scoring a pair of unearned runs on Alex Fink’s two-run single in the bottom of the fourth. This time it was the Bulls answering right back to tie the game as Shad Wacker and Bahr scored runs.
Windom took a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the frame as Fink recorded his fourth RBI of the game, a single that scored Quintin Tietz after he had singled and stole second. The Pirates added a pair of insurance runs in the seventh.
Both starting pitchers went the distance.
