Huskies win 6th straight section wrestling title
Jackson County Central is making its sixth straight trip to the state Class A wrestling tournament after a pair of wins in the Section 3A tournament in Wabasso on Saturday. The Huskies defeated Fulda/Murray County Central 51-18 in the semifinals and 48-18 in the championship match.
JCC won 10 matches in the dual vs. the Warriors and nine against the Dragons as it raised its record to 20-3.
The Huskies will wrestle in the team portion of the state tournament at Grand Casino Arena in St. Paul.
A new format this year calls for Class A teams to wrestle at 6 p.m. and again at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 25.
First-round matches in the individual portion of the tournament will be held in the morning session on Thursday, Feb. 26.
Then it’s back to team competition, with the third- and fifth-place matches at 4 p.m. and the championship match at 7 p.m.
The remainder of the individual tournament will be held Friday and Saturday.
