Jackson County Central entries earned medals in five events in the Class A state track and field meet at St. Michael-Albertville High School.
Caleb Vancura earned medals in two individual events at the state meet. He placed ninth in shot put Thursday with an effort of 48-9 and was eighth in discus Friday with a throw of 1434-3.
Quinn Landherr also medaled in two events.
He was sixth in pole vault (12-9) and ran a leg on JCC’s 4x200-meter relay team.
Clay Malchow, Ben Dahlin and Gabe Wolff ran the other three legs on the team that finished sixth in 1:31.74 in Friday’s finals. That time is second in school history, only trailing the 1:31.09 the team ran in the prelims on Thursday.
Rylie Cother earned one medal while breaking a school record twice at the state meet.
She set a record of 16.29 seconds in the prelims of the 100-meter hurdles Thursday and then blew past that mark with a time of 15.83 in placing eighth in Friday’s finals.
Cother was also 19th in long jump (15-7). Elsa Landherr placed 16th in triple jump (33-1).
The Huskies had three other entries in the state meet that did not advance to the finals in their respective events.
Wolff was 14th in the 100-meter prelims (11.52), Quinn Landherr finished 15th in the 400-meter prelims (55.16) and the girls 4x200 unit of Daysia Tomlin, Kendra Haar, Natalia Botello-Ramos and Elsa Landherr was 17th in 1:49.67.
Fairmont
Entries from Fairmont competed in Class AA at the state meet.
Nelson Remington won three boys wheelchair events, the 100 meters (17.51), 200 meters (31.78) and 800 meters (2:10.38).
Hank Artz placed in two events, finishing fifth in shot put (51-11) and ninth in discus (153-5).
Also, Sawyer Tordsen earned a sixth-place medal in discus (164-2).
The Cardinals also had two girls entries perform.
Macy Hanson was 12th in the 3200 meters (11:44.9) and Bella Larson was 16th in high jump (4-8).
