Roman Voss received offers from each of the FBS schools in Iowa at the end of the week to bring the number of offers he’s received from Power Five conference schools to five.
Voss, who will be a junior at Jackson County Central, posted on X (formerly known as Twitter) Thursday that he had received an offer from Iowa. On Friday he posted that he had also received an offer from Iowa State.
Earlier he had announced offers from Minnesota, Wisconsin and Kansas State.
Voss is listed as an Athlete by recruiting services. He has played quarterback and receiver on offense and safety on defense for the Huskies.
His post about the offer from the Hawkeyes featured tight ends coach Abdul Hodge, fueling online speculation that Iowa (often referred to as ‘Tight End U’) might see him playing that position if he were to go to Iowa City.
There have been 13 Iowa tight ends selected in the NFL Draft under coach Kirk Ferentz including four who played in 2023. They are George Kittle (San Francisco), T.J. Hockenson (Minnesota), Sam LaPorta (Detroit) and Noah Fant (Seattle).
Hodge was a three-time all-conference and two-time all-American linebacker in his playing days at Iowa. He played in the NFL with Green Bay, Cincinnati and Carolina.
In his Iowa State post, Voss was pictured with linebacker coach Colby Kracht and he tagged tight end coach Taylor Mouser.
Voss is the sixth ranked player in the state from the state in the ratings for the Class of 2026 by prepredzone.com.
Also in that class, Weston Rowe is eighth among offensive linemen and 17th overall.
Two JCC players from the Class of 2027 are also state ranked. Gage Johnson is rated sixth among running backs and 15th overall and Carter Buhl is No. 13 as an Athlete.
