The Jackson County Central softball team went 3-0 at its own tournament Saturday to complete a stretch where the Huskies played seven games in less than 48 hours and went 6-1.
On Saturday JCC defeated Albert Lea 7-6, New York Mills 13-3 in five innings and Worthington 13-5.
Mady Wachal was the winning pitcher vs. Albert Lea, striking out 12. At the plate she had a hit and scored two runs.
Clara Brinks had two 2 hits and scored a run, Bailey Finck and Hadley Wachal each had one hit, scored a run, and had an RBI; Miley VanDeWeere had a hit and two runs batted in; Lauren Johnson had a hit and a run; and Braelyn Boogerd had an RBI.
Vs. New York Mills, Sawyer Flatgard collected two hits, had three RBI and scored a run; Boogerd had a hit, scored a run and had three RBI; Brielle Tufvesson had a hit, scored a run and had an RBI; and Kinley VanDeVere and Miley VCanDeVere scored three runs apiece.
Hadley Wachal pitched three innings, allowing only one hit, and striking out eight.
Mariah Vancura had two 2 hits and scored a run vs. Worthington; Hadley Wachal hit another homer; Mady Wachal had a hit scored twice; Kinley VanDeVere and Miley VanDeVere each had one hit, scored two runs and had two RBI; Brinks and Finck each had one hit, one run and one RBI; Sawyer Flatgard had a hit and scored a run; Tufvesson had a hit and three RBI; and CJ Pauling had a hit and an RBI.
JCC will play its final home game at 4:30 p.m. Monday when it hosts Class 2A third-ranked Lake Crystal Wellcome Memorial (15-1).
The Huskies close out their regular-season schedule Thursday at Wabasso. The Rabbits are 13-3 with two losses to Class 1A No. 2 New Ulm Cathedral and one to Class 1A No. 8 Edgerton/Southwest Minnesota Christian. Wabasso plays at Class 1A No. 5 Russell-Tyler-Ruthton Monday before hosting JCC.
Big South race
Luverne has won the Big South Conference Small School Division title with a 10-2 record. Pipestone and Windom tie for second with 9-3 records and Jackson County Central will finish fourth at 7-5
New Ulm needs one more win to clinch the Large School Division crown. The Eagles are at Marshall Tuesday and host St. Peter Thursday.
