PORT ALBERNI, B.C. - Hobie Hedquist of Heron Lake has split his last two games in goal for the Alberni Valley Bulldogs of the British Columbia Hockey League.
He took a 2-1 shootout loss to the Chilliwack Chiefs. Hedquist was the Second Star of the game, making 24 saves through regulation and overtime.
Saturday he got the win in a 2-1 home victory over the Powell River Kings, stopping 22 shots.
The win improved Hedquist’s record to 16-5.
The University of North Dakota commit is tied for the league lead in shutouts (4), tied for fifth in wins (16), sixth in goals against average (2.4) and eighth in save percentage (.916).
Alberni Valley (22-11-3-1) is in second place in the BCHL’s Coastal Division, five points behind the Langley Rivermen (25-8-1-2).
The Bulldogs have a stretch of three games in four days coming up.
They are at the Cowichan Valley Capitals Wednesday and then host the Coquitlam Express Friday and Cowichan Valley Saturday.
