Only one day after announcing he had received an offer to play football at South Dakota State, Jackson County Central offensive tackle Weston Rowe announced on X (formerly known as Twitter) late Saturday night that he has committed to the Jackrabbits program.
Rowe attended Junior Day at South Dakota State last week and received an offer from the Jackrabbits before he left Brookings.
SDSU was the fourth FCS school and eighth overall to make an offer to the 6-foot-7, 270-pound junior. Other FCS schools to make an offer were South Dakota, Cornell and Dartmouth.
Weston also had offers from the three military academies, Air Force, Army West Point and Navy, along with Division II power Minnesota State University.
Rowe is the 18th-ranked player in the state for the Class of 2026. He is listed as the No. 2 uncommitted offensive lineman in that class by prepredzone.com.
The Jackrabbits play in the Missouri Valley Football Conference. South Dakota State was 12-3 overall in 2024, 7-1 in conference play in Dan Jackson’s first year as head coach.
Jackson played at SDSU and was also a graduate assistant with the Jackrabbits. He’s also coached at Northern Illinois, Vanderbilt and Idaho.
SDSU lost to eventual champion North Dakota State 28-21 in Fargo in the 2024 FCS semifinals after winning the national championship in 2022 and 2023. The Jackrabbits also lost the 2020 national title game to Sam Houston State and fell to Montana State in the semifinals in 2021.
Rowe becomes the third member of the Class of 2026 to commit to SDSU. He joins QB Kaden Harney (Maple Grove) and TE Sawyer Josewski, (Rogers).
Weston’s commitment to SDSU comes as welcome news to a number of JCC graduates who went to school in Brookings, including Rudy Voss and Dallas Clarksean:
Dallas’ son, Hudson, is the No. 13 athlete and 101st prospect overall in the state’s Class of 2027. He was a rare two-way sophomore player last season for Class 5A Mankato West.
