Jackson County Central senior Caleb Vancura played linebacker for the South team, which defeated the North 29-0 in the Minnesota Football Showcase (50th Annual Minnesota Football Coaches Association All-Star Football Game Saturday at U.S. Bank Stadium.
The game showcases outstanding senior players from this past Minnesota high school football season. It’s sponsored by the Minnesota Vikings and the Minnesota Football Coaches Association.
All-star football games in Minnesota date back to 1945. This year’s game was the 61st overall. The Minnesota game is the only high school all-star game in the country played in an NFL stadium.
Jackson County Central has had 12 participants in the game since becoming a school district in 1997. Prior to that, Jackson High School had 10.
It was the sixth consecutive win for the South in the series.
The South All-Stars lead the current North-South series 10-2 and also leads the overall North-South series 18-10-1.
