Lakefield rallied from an eight-run deficit to get within one late in the game, but eventually Fox Lake would claim a 13-10 win over the Frogs in a First Nite League amateur baseball game Friday at Stan King Field in Lakefield.
After Lakefield had a 3-1 lead after two innings, Fox Lake scored two in the third to tie it and after a pair of scoreless frames the visiting Foxes scored eight times in the sixth to lead 11-3.
The Frogs plated two in the sixth and five in the seventh to draw within 11-10, but Fox Lake scored single runs in both the eighth and ninth innings for the win as the Foxes are now 2-5. Lakefield is 2-6.
Jace Jorgenson had two hits for the Frogs, while Gabe Wolff had a hit, walked and had three runs batted in.
Recording one hit apiece were Justin Holinka, Ian Titterington, Carson Kolander and Bryson Powers. Taylor Christopher and Ike Rogers both walked three times and Kash Gilbert twice.
Mitchell Prafke, Kaiden Musser, Steven Zehms and Carter Brudilie had two hits apiece for Fox Lake. Getting one hit each were Blake Buntjer, Lucas Larson and Zach Anderson.
Musser was the winning pitcher, going six innings, allowing five runs on three hits, walking seven and striking out five. Anderson and Zehms also pitched for the Foxes.
Brett Rossow started for the Frogs and took the loss. Bryce Christopher, Jorgenson and Wolff also pitched.
Fox Lake will host Hadley at 2 p.m. Sunday in Truman. Lakefield’s next game is also against the Foxes, at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in Truman.
