Martin County West will open its home football schedule and play the first of five Section 3A teams it will meet during the regular season when the Mavericks host Sleepy Eye at 7 p.m. Friday in Sherburn.
MCW opened its season with a road win last week, beating St. James Area 47-13 behind three touchdown passes by Christian Bachenberg. He also ran for a TD.
Sleepy Eye is 0-1, falling at home to Russell-Tyler-Ruthton 37-6.
Next for MCW is homecoming next week when the Mavericks host Minnesota Valley Lutheran on Saturday, Sept. 18.
