After posting a shutout in the season opener, Jackson County Central’s defense will face a challenge in Week 2 of the regular season when the Huskies face Worthington in its home opener at 7 p.m. Friday at Swearingen Field.
The Trojans dropped their first game 25-6 to Luverne last week.
Senior Jacari Swinea put up some good numbers in the loss to the Cardinals and will be the focal point of Worthington’s offense all season. Swinea carried the ball 22 times for 107 yards and caught one pass for 22 yards vs. Luverne.
“He’s a special athlete,” JCC coach Tom Schuller said of the Trojans’ senior halfback. “They’ll give the ball 10 yards behind the line of scrimmage and have him find a hole. We’ll have to stay disciplined on defense.”
The Huskies’ offense piled up 466 yards vs. the Knights, 290 yards rushing and 176 passing.
Jackson County Central is back on the road next week at Blue Earth Area. The Buccaneers lost their season opener at home to Pipestone 35-20 and are at Triton Friday.
