Jackson County Central’s baseball team split a pair of games Thursday at Wacker Field, beating Hayfield 7-4 before losing 11-0 in six innings to Springfield.
Gage Johnson was the winning pitcher vs. the Vikings to start the day as he went 5.2 innings, allowing four runs on four hits, walking four and striking out 10 batters. Ryan Fricke and Carson Doescher closed out the win, with Doescher fanning two in 1.1 innings.
Kash Gilbert had three hits for JCC. Jace Jorgensen double. Also getting one hit apiece were Ben Gallagher, Carson Kolander and Talan Holm.
In the nightcap, the Tigers scored single runs in the second and third innings to lead 2-0 before scoring four runs in the fifth and five in the sixth to end the game early via the 10-run rule.
The Huskies had five hits, one apiece for Gallagher, Johnson, Jorgensen, Holm and Haiden Warmka.
After closing out the first game, Doescher started the second game and pitched 4.1 innings, with Gilbert and Kolander going the rest of the way.
Jackson County Central has a 6-13 record.
After facing the No. 1 ranked team in Class 1A in Springfield, the Huskies close out their regular-season schedule Tuesday with a 4:30 p.m. home game against Class 1A No. 2 Murray County Central.
