After a stretch that saw them wrestle six duals in three events over seven days, the Jackson County Central wrestling has a week to catch its collective breath before competing twice in as many days and three times in four days.
The Huskies were 52-24 winners over Pipestone Thursday to complete that week-long stretch to move their record to 11-6 overall and 5-0 in the Big South Conference West Division.
JCC has one conference dual remaining, Monday, Feb. 6 at Windom/Mountain Lake. The Huskies can do no worse than tie with Marshall for the West Division title.
The Tigers have concluded their league schedule 5-1. Jackson County Central defeated the Tigers 54-12 on Dec. 20.
Four Huskies won by falls in Thursday’s win over the Arrows, Kyler Thier (106), Thomas Freking (145), Skyler Andrews (160), and Isaiah Rodriguez (170) got pins for the Huskies.
Four more JCC wrestlers received forfeits, Kayden Eller (113), Logan Butzon (152), Caleb Vancura (220) and Cameron Scholten (285). Dylan Withers (182) won by major decision.
For Butzon, it was the 200th win of his career.
Jackson County Central is off from competition until facing South Dakota Class A (large school) No. 1 Brandon Valley at 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3 at Elmen Center at Augustana University in Sioux Falls. The Lynx have an 11-0 dual record. That match will be followed by an NSIC dual between Augustana and the University of Mary.
The Huskies then go to the Mike Fasnacht Memorial in Janesville on Saturday, Feb. 4 before a dual at Windom on Feb. 6.
