Martin County West pounded out 19 hits including four home runs in rolling to a 15-2 nonconference softball win over Mountain Lake Area/Comfrey Monday in Mountain Lake.
Courtney Anderson and Emily Anderson each had three hits for the Mavericks, who are 5-1. Courtney Anderson hit one of MCW’s four round-trippers.
Maddie Carlson and Addy Wohlhuter each had two hits including a home run for the Mavericks. Rowan Faber hit MCW’s other homer.
Carlson was the winning pitcher, allowing two runs (one earned) on six hits and striking out six.
The Mavericks have two nonconference home games scheduled at Fox Lake Area Sports Complex in Welcome later this week, with Windom (2-6) due on Thursday and Class 1A No. 1 United South Central (8-0) Friday. Both games are scheduled for 4:30 p.m. starts.
