Hobie Hedquist recorded his third consecutive shutout Saturday night as his Alberni Valley Bulldogs defeated the Nanaimo Clippers 3-0 in a British Columbia Hockey League game in Port Alberni B.C.
The Heron Lake native and University of North Dakota commit made 35 saves. He was named the First Star of the game.
Hedquist made 18 saves in a 5-0 win over the Surrey Eagles on Friday and 30 in a 1-0 shootout win over the Vernon Vipers on Oct. 30.
He has now gone over 187 minutes without allowing a goal, making 83 consecutive saves during the streak.
Hedquist leads the BCHL in goals-against average (1.83), save percentage (.936) and shutouts (3).
He has a 5-1-1 record for Alberni Valley, which is 7-3-1 overall and is in second place in the BCHL’s Coastal Conference standings with 15 points, two behind the Langley Rivermen.
The Bulldogs go on the road for three games vs. the league’s Interior Conference this week, playing at the Penticton Vees on Wednesday, Trail Smoke Eaters Friday and Cranbrook Bucks on Saturday.
