BLUE EARTH – Both Jackson County Central basketball teams advanced to the championship game of the Blue Earth Area holiday tournament with wins over United South Central Wednesday.
The Huskies won the girls game 90-28 and the boys 68-64.
JCC’s girls set a school record for points in a half as they led 61-16 at halftime.
Maci Farmer led the Huskies in scoring with 28 points, hitting three baskets from three-point range and going 7-for-7 from the free-throw line. She also had six assists and seven steals.
Sadie Voss posted 24 points, four assists and six steals. Georgianna Wenzel scored 15 points including three treys.
Taylor Schroeder led the Rebels in scoring with 10 points.
USC led the boys game 32-22 at halftime before the Huskies outscored the Rebels 46-32 in the second half.
All five Jackson County Central starters scored in double figures, led by Erik Hesebeck with 14 points.
Travis Rogotzke scored 12 points, all in the second half and Christan Benda also netted 12 points, all in the second half on four three-pointers.
Damien Phaly scored 11 points, all in the first half; and Roman Voss also netted 11.
USC’s Zale Bushlack scored a game-high 31 points.
Both JCC teams will play either host Blue Earth Area of Truman/Martin Luther/Granada-Huntley-East Chain on Thursday, with the girls game scheduled for 2:30 p.m. and the boys for 6:30.
