
Four Jackson County Central graduates had a reunion of sorts on Saturday as they represented two colleges at the MSU Moorhead Dragon Open.
Kie Anderson and William Freking are juniors at Concordia College, while Nolan Ambrose is a freshman at Augustana University and Logan Butzon is a redshirt freshman for the Vikings.
Anderson and Freking both won their weight class for the Cobbers.
In the 133-pound White Division, Anderson went 3-0 to win the title.
After a no contest in the quarterfinals, he won by a 15-0 technical fall in the semifinals and then was a 8-4 winner over Kenton Cooke of Division I South Dakota State in the finals.
It was Anderson's first weight-class title of the season, and he now has a 9-5 record.
Freking recorded his first collegiate weight-class title with three falls in the White Division 197-pound bracket. He won in 2:02 over Joshua Mitchell (St. John’s), 2:32 over Isaac Pearce (Minnesota North - Itasca) and :55 over Seth Meyer (Ridgewater College).
Freking is 6-6 on the season with all of his wins coming by fall.
Ambrose went 3-1 to place third in the Red Division 149-pound bracket.
After a bye, he won by a fall in the quarterfinals before a loss in the semifinals. Ambrose then won two matches by decisions to finish third.
Butzon went 0-2 in the Red Division 157-pound bracket, with each of his losses coming by a 4-2 margin.
