Third-seeded Jackson County Central split its games in the Section 3AA baseball team tournament at Herb Wolf Field in Fairmont Saturday, beating sixth-seeded St. James Area 9-3 and falling to the second-seeded host Cardinals 10-0 in five innings.
Damien Phaly had three hits for the Huskies including a two-run single and walked once.
Erik Hesebeck recorded two hits, Lucas Vesey doubled and was hit by a pitch and Payton Handevidt walked twice and had two RBI groundouts.
Logan Buzton was on base twice with a hit and a walk. Also getting hits were Trace Michelson, Leighton Polz and Ben Spaeth.
Michelson was the winning pitcher, going five and two-third innings, with Carter Ahrens finishing up.
JCC had only one hit against Fairmont's Jacob Crissinger in its second game of the day. Speath singled with one out in the fifth.
Gavin Jacobsen started and took the pitching loss for Jackson County Central. Gabe Wolf and Andrew Boyum also pitched.
The Huskies will play Pipestone in an elimination game at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Redbird Field in Luverne.
