Jackson County Central and Martin County West/Butterfield-Odin will both compete in the 47th annual I-90 Invitational cross country meet Thursday at Cedar Creek Park in Fairmont. There are 11 teams scheduled to participate.
In its early years the meet alternated between Fairmont and Jackson, but eventually Fairmont became the permanent host.
Thursday’s field is expected to have three ranked individuals and two rated teams competing.
In the girls meet, Macy Hanson of host Fairmont is third in the Class 2A individual ratings. Belle Plaine is ninth in the 2A girls team poll.
There are two ranked boys scheduled to compete with Fanuel Wolday of Worthington seventh in Class 2A and Josiah DeMaris of Madelia/Truman/Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Martin Luther is 12th in Class 1A.
Hanson and Wolday are the defending individual champions. Belle Plaine won both team titles in 2023.
