Jackson County Central’s softball team has reached the championship round of the Section 3AA softball tournament for the second straight year after winning two elimination games on Tuesday in Marshall.
The Huskies defeated Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta 4-1 and then shut out Luverne 3-0.
That puts JCC, 17-6 on the season, in the finals vs. tournament unbeaten Dassel-Cokato (18-3) at 5 p.m. Thursday. The Chargers edged the Huskies 7-6 earlier in the tournament, scoring five runs in the bottom of the seventh.
If Jackson County Central wins the 5 p.m. game, a second game would follow to determine the section’s representative in next week’s state tournament.
Bailey Finck hit a three-run home run for JCC’s only hit in the win over MACA. Hadley Wachal pitched the first three innings and Mady Wachal went the final three.
Mady Wachal went the distance to record the shutout vs. Luverne. She struck out seven.
Hadley Wachal doubled and Brielle Tufvesson also had a hit in the game with the Cardinals.
