Jackson is 3-0 to start the amateur baseball season and the latest of those victories will go down as a classic.
The Bulls’ Evan Olesen and Fairmont’s Spencer Chirpich matched each other for 10 scoreless before each was done for the night. After that it took two more innings before the Bulls came away with a 5-4 First Nite League home win over the Martins Wednesday.
In his 10 innings, Olesen allowed four hits, walked five and struck out 12. Chirpich gave up eight hits, did not walk anyone and fanned 13.
Landon Vaske would go two innings and get the win for Jackson. Jon Traetow took the loss for Fairmont.
After the starters left, each team was able to put something other than goose eggs on the Wacker Field scoreboard.
The Martins scored two in their half of the 11th inning, but the Bulls came back with a pair of runs of their own.
Shad Wacker walked in the 11th and then after two were out, Blake Evans walked and Carter Snyder followed with a two-run double to tie the game again at 2-2.
Fairmont put two more runs up in the 12th, but Jackson would out together a rally to record the win.
With one out, Busch singled, followed by Blaise Jacobsen being hit by a pitch and Wacker walking. A wild pitch allowed Busch to score, bringing the Bulls to within one.
Following a walk to Easton Bahr, Olesen hit a line drive to shortstop that almost resulted in a double play that would have ended the game. Evans would follow with a two-run single to left to give Jackson the walk-off win.
Evans, Busch and Wacker each had three hits for Jackson. Snyder had two, while Chris Gumto had one.
Traetow had two hits including a double for Fairmont.
Jackson will take its unblemished record to Heron Lake for a 2 p.m. game Sunday.
