A coordinated effort between the Jackson Area Chamber of Commerce and Jackson Motorplex has led to the creation of a retooled Jackson Days celebration this week.
The celebration will provide area residents with plenty of activities to participate in and show off the community to a large number of spectators who will be in town for the 43rd annual AGCO Jackson Nationals.
"We're excited about it," said Corey Christopher, executive director of the Chamber. "This is the first year to actually do this in conjunction with Jackson Motorplex. We're excited about putting our resources together and making it a big event not only for the City of Jackson but also for all the visitors who are coming into town for the Nationals."
Events start Tuesday and run through Sunday.
"There are a lot of things that the Chamber board has worked hard along with Doug Johnson and the folks at the Motorplex to put this together." Christopher commented. "We've got a little bit of everything for everybody so I'm hoping that people will come out and take advantage of some of the fun things that we have planned."
Getting the week going will be the Little Miss and Mister Jackson Pageant at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Historic State Theatre.
A medallion hunt starts at 8 a.m. Wednesday, followed by a new event as a golf tournament featuring several World of Outlaws drivers will be held at Jackson Golf Club starting at 11:30 a.m.
Drivers confirmed to play in the golf tourney are Austin McCarl, Kerry Madsen, Brad Sweet, David Gravel, Trent Gauer and Logan Schuchart.
