Top-seeded Jackson County Central was a 3-0 winner over fourth-seeded Windom in the semifinals of the Section 3AA South Sub-Section volleyball tournament Monday at the JCC High School gym.
Set scores were 25-16, 25-13, 25-9.
“I’m very proud of them,” JCC coach Deidre Wierson said about the Huskies. “Each part of the competition builds up a little higher as you go through the tournament and to go out with a sweep is great. I was super proud of the seniors as I have been all season and for them to go out with a bang like that in their home gym is awesome.”
Sadie Voss recorded a double-double for the Huskies with 16 kills and 14 digs. She was 4-for-6 serving with one ace.
Georgianna Wenzel posted six kills, four digs and was 15-17 serving with an ace.
Taylor Post had five kills, two digs and was 12-12 serving with two aces. Emma Haren had four kills, four digs and was 9-10 serving with one ace.
Maci Farmer had 31 set assists, five digs and was 12-13 serving with an ace; and Alexis O’Reilly had nine digs and was 10-11 serving.
“Overall we’re happy with what we did but also the coaches kind of pick apart things and recognize things we still need to be doing better,” Wierson commented. “But overall we need to be proud and happy because any time you level down their points in each set, that’s a win in regarding what we need to control on our side of the net.”
The Huskies, now 25-6 face second-seeded Luverne in the sub-section championship at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Worthington. The Cardinals (19-6) defeated third-seeded Pipestone in Monday’s other semifinal.
