All of the winter sports teams involving Jackson County Central student-athletes will have their regular-season schedules in progress by the end of the week.
Monday, Nov. 28
The Windom Area girls hockey team has won two straight after opening the season with a loss to stand at 2-1 overall, 1-1 in the Big South Conference.
The Eagles will head to LeSueur to face Minnesota River, which is 1-3 and 0-2.
Tuesday, Nov. 29
JCC’s girls basketball team will open its season on the road at Blue Earth Area. It will also be the season opener for the Buccaneers.
Also Tuesday, the Windom Area boys hockey team has its opener as the Eagles face Rochester John Marshall in a 5:30 p.m. game at Rochester Recreation Center. The Rockets opened their season Saturday with a 5-4 win over LaCrescent-Hokah.
Thursday, Dec. 1
Three teams are in action Thursday including the Jackson County Central gymnastics team, which opens its season with a home dual vs. St. James Area.
Both Windom Area hockey teams will be on the road Thursday.
The Eagle girls have a conference game at Worthington at 7 p.m. The Trojans are 1-1 with a Tuesday game vs. New Ulm before hosting Windom.
Windom Area’s boys travel to Austin for a 7:30 p.m. game at Riverside Arena. The Packers open their season at LaCrescent-Hokah on Tuesday.
Friday, Dec. 2
The JCC girls basketball team will open Big South Conference West Division play at Pipestone. That will also be the conference opener for the Arrows, who open their season Tuesday vs. Southwest Minnesota Christian before hosting the Huskies.
There was a JCC boys basketball game scheduled vs. Mountain Lake Area/Comfrey Friday, but that game was postponed until Dec. 20.
Saturday, Dec. 3
Two JCC teams have their season openers scheduled for Saturday.
The Class 1A top-ranked Jackson County Central wrestling team will open its season at the Don Hall Invitational hosted by Glencoe-Silver Lake.
In addition to the Huskies and host Panthers, teams scheduled to compete are BOLD, Kimball Area, LeSueur-Henderson, New Ulm, Rochester John Marshall, Watertown-Mayer/Mayer Lutheran, and Zumbrota-Mazeppa.
JCC’s boys basketball team will open its season by entertaining Blue Earth Area. It will be the second game for the Buccaneers, who are at New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva Thursday.
Also Saturday, both Windom Area hockey teams will be at home.
The boys will play first, hosting Two Rivers High School in Mendota Heights.
The Warriors are 2-0 with wins over St. Paul Highland Park and Red Wing. Two Rivers plays at Bloomington Jefferson Wednesday and Luverne Friday before visiting Windom City Arena.
The Eagle girls then host Mankato East in a scheduled 3 p.m. start. The Cougars are 2-1 with games at Austin Tuesday and at home Thursday vs. Albert Lea.
