Jackson County Central’s volleyball team has a busy week, the football team has its home opener and the Huskies cross country teams have the week off from competition as it gets ready for its lone home meet.
Tuesday, Sept. 13
The JCC volleyball team heads to Marshall for a Big South Conference West Division matchup vs. the Tigers.
Both teams are 1-0 in conference play.
The Huskies have an overall match record of 3-1 and are 11-3 in sets.
The Tigers, ranked first in Class 3A, are 6-1 in matches with the loss coming to Class 4A No. 5 Lakeville North.
Marshall, which is 14-1 in sets, has a ton of coaching experience on its bench, as the one and only John Millea wrote about on his Substack:
Thursday, Sept. 15
It’s another road trip against a number one team for the Jackson County Central volleyball team Tuesday as the Huskies play at Sioux Falls Christian.
The Chargers are first in Class A, the middle of South Dakota’s three classes.
SFC is 8-0 in matches and 20-1 in sets. The Chargers play at Vermillion Tuesday before facing JCC.
Friday, Sept. 16
A pair of 2-0 football teams will meet in Jackson County Central’s home opener at 7 p.m. Friday at Swearingen Field as the Huskies host Blue Earth Area.
The Huskies have defeated Maple River 30-27 and Luverne 24-0, while the Buccaneers have rolled past Windom 73-12 and Lake Crystal Wellcome Memorial 51-12.
Saturday, Sept. 17
The JCC volleyball team will host the Carolyn Hummel Invitational on Saturday.
Scheduled to join the Huskies are Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda, Luverne, Martin County West, Murray County Central, New Ulm, Red Rock Central, Triton, Westbrook/Walnut Grove, Windom, and Worthington.
