PERRY, Georgia – There will be three participants from Jackson in the National Junior High Finals Rodeo that starts Sunday and runs through Saturday.
Competing from Jackson will be 13-year-olds Sadie Hotzler and Jessica Dvorak, along with 14-year-old Josie Dvorak.
All three recently competed in the Minnesota State Finals in Fergus Falls.
Hotzler was state champion in barrel racing, reserve champion in pole bending and eighth in breakaway.
Jessica was fourth in breakaway, fifth in barrel racing, sixth in girls goat tying and eighth in pole bending. Josie placed third in poles, third in breakaway, fourth in barrels and 10th in goat tyimg.
At the NJHFR, the three locals will be among approximately 1,200 contestants from 43 U.S. states, five Canadian Provinces, Australia, Mexico and New Zealand. The NJHFR is the world's largest junior high rodeo.
There are two performances each day this week at the Georgia National Fairgrounds in Perry.
Contestants must finish in the top 20, based on their combined times/scores in the first two go-rounds to advance to Saturday evening’s final round. World champions will be determined based on their three go-round combined times/scores.
Added money for the optional jackpot has increased to $100,000 and is available to everyone at finals who enters the jackpot in their event.
In addition, contestants will also be competing for more than $200,000 in college scholarships.
