
Sherburn native Carsen Musser is a participant in the USA Hockey National Junior Evaluation Camp/World Junior Summer Showcase that is underway at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, Mich.
Players from the United States, Canada, Finland and Sweden will take part in practices, scrimmages and games through Saturday.
The event is part of the process to select the roster for the International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championship later this year.
USA Hockey will have two teams (USA White and USA Blue) for the first four days of the tournament before making cuts to create one team. Musser is one of three goalies on the USA White roster. There are two netminders on USA Blue.
USA White, which will play Finland at 12 p.m. Sunday and Sweden at 3 p.m. Monday.
Musser will be He’ll be a freshman at Colorado College this fall. He was a sixth-round pick (166th overall) of the-then Arizona Coyotes in 2023. The franchise has relocated to Utah.
Musser was a participant in the team’s Development Camp earlier this month.
He compiled a 2-0 record with a goals against average of 0.75 and .947 save percentage in two games for the gold-medal winning Team USA at the 2023 IIHF Under-18 World Championship in Switzerland.
Musser spent last season with the Madison Capitols of the United States Hockey League.
He posted a 17-11-2 record with the Capitols. Musser finished the regular season second in the USHL with a .905 save percentage and fourth with a 2.74 goals-against average.
