A little about today’s (Sunday’s) Jackson Bulls’ win over Fox Lake and an update from this morning.
The Bulls were 2-0 winners over the Foxes in a First Nite League game in Northrop.
The game was a pitcher’s duel between Jackson’s Evan Olesen, who played college baseball at Northwestern (IA) and Fox Lake’s Paxton Gravlin, who played at Rochester Community College and Upper Iowa University.
It was scoreless through six innings of the scheduled seven-inning contest until the Bulls scored twice in the seventh. Shad Wacker was credited with an infield RBI single and Andy Wolf walked with the bases loaded.
The Foxes got a baserunner on an error in the bottom of the seventh, but Olesen was able to close the game out. He struck out eight in the game.
Jackson is now 8-2. The Bulls are off until next Sunday when they play Heron Lake at 1 p.m. and Luverne at 3 p.m. at Redbird Field in Luverne.

Don’t sell Hady short
A few weeks back I mentioned that former Bull Tom Hady is playing again this season for the Shakopee Indians of the Class C River Valley East League.
And while that statement is accurate it was also selling him a bit short.
Shakopee is one of three teams that the 54-year-old Hady is a member of.
Tom also plays with the Southwest Outlaws of the Minnesota Senior Men’s Baseball Association.
The Outlaws play their home games in St. James.
He also is a member of the Over-35 Federal League’s Elko Chuggers.
Good news: I do have an update on his numbers.
Tom has two wins in four relief appearances. And he has an earned-run average of 0.00. All four runs he has allowed have been unearned.
Less than good news: He’s done for the season with a broken toe.
Tom will have surgery Tuesday to put pins in his left big toe.
