WINDOM – In a matchup of the top two teams in the First Nite League standings, Collin Lovell and the Windom Pirates shut out the Jackson Bulls 4-0 Friday at Island Park.
Lovell allowed six hits, did not walk a batter and struck out 16 as Windom moved its league record to 9-2. Jackson is now 10-3 in league play. The Pirates have swept the regular-season series from the Bulls.
Windom scored three runs in the first inning Friday and there was no more scoring until the Pitrates tacked on an insurance run in the eighth.
Shad Wacker had three of Jackson’s six hits including a double in the sixth inning. Getting one hit apiece were Easton Bahr, Blaise Jacobsen and Alex Bretzman.
Ryan Rasche pitched five and two-third innings and took the loss for the Bulls. Sean Minder went the rest of the way.
Jackson plays two Sunday, playing at the Milroy Irish at 2 p.m. and Hadley at 5 p.m.
