Welcome was a 6-1 winner over Jackson Wednesday in the first game of a home-and-home American Legion baseball teams at the Fox Lake Area Sports Complex.
Host Post 553 scored three runs in the first, two in the second and one in the fourth for a 6-0 lead. Post 130 scored its only run in the sixth.
Dalton Wilking had a hit, walked, reached on an error and scored Jackson’s lone run.
Talan Holm took the pitching loss.
The teams will play again at 6 p.m. Monday at Wacker Field.
