Mavericks to face Jaguars after first victory
Following a pair of losses to open the season, the Martin County West baseball team is heading into the week after a win. The Mavericks are scheduled to play Martin Luther/Granada-Huntley-East Chain in a Tomahawk-Valley Conference game at 4:30 p.m. Monday in Truman.
MCW lost to Adrian/Ellsworth and Madelia to start the campaign before a 7-1 home win over Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda last Tuesday.
Noah Meixell and Liam Pytleski combined on a no-hitter in the victory over the Coyotes at the Fox Lake Area Sports Complex.
Meixell pitched six innings, walking six and striking 13. Pytleski fanned the side in the seventh.
MCW had six hits in the game, with four being doubles.
Kade Fennern had two of the doubles with Meixell and Easton Kuehl recording one apiece. Brock Jagodzinske and Preston Cepress also had hits for the Mavericks.
Monday will be the conference opener for the Jaguars, who lost their lone game to date to Blue Earth Area.
Martin County West is scheduled to be at home again Thursday vs. Mankato Loyola.
