
Rain and wet playing conditions has the Martin County West softball team looking at a stretch of four games in about 22 hours Friday and Saturday.
The Mavericks had been scheduled to play Madelia in a Valley Conference doubleheader Thursday, but the games with the Blackhawks had to be postponed until Friday in Searles. The first game starts at 4 p.m.
MCW is 7-2 overall on the season after beating then-Class 1A No. 8 Cleveland 6-1 on Tuesday in Welcome. The Clippers have since dropped out of the top 10.
Coach Darrell Ziegler’s team is 2-1 in the Valley, sharing first place with Cleveland and Nicollet. Madelia is 4-8 overall, 0-3 in the Valley.

On Saturday the Mavericks will host a three-team event at the Fox Lake Area Sports Complex.

The Dragons are 6-5 after splitting a doubleheader with Mountain Lake Area/Comfrey on Thursday. The Vikings improved to 5-4 Thursday with a win over Triton.
